Villa Melnik is a family winery established by the Zikatanov family with over 200 years of documented history in viticulture and winemaking. The winery was established in 2013, and to this day is still wide open to all who love wine and want to experience its creation. They planted their first vineyards in 2004 after a rigorous selection of varietals, and currently grow Shiroka Melnishka loza and Radnna Melnishka loza (Melnik 55) as well as the other "children" of Shiroka Melnishka loza, Rouen, Mavrud, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, and Pinot Noir. White varieties such as Sandanski Misket, Keratsuda, Tamyanka, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier are also grown. Aging of the wine takes place in tunnels carved into the sand hill behind the winery, ensuring a constant temperature and humidity in the room.
The story behind the brands is interesting: AplauZ - applause for the good work of the winegrowers in the field, the winemakers in the cellar, those who sell the wine and those who drink and share it, and Bergulé - means hill, ridge, shore, and for the Zikatanov family the banks of the Melnik River became a symbol of eternity, of timeless human values.
